Certificate Overrides

If a course has a certificate enabled, a group administrator can override that setting for their own group — without affecting learners in any other group or package.

Where to find it

  1. Sign in as a group administrator and open My Groups.
  2. Click Edit on the package that contains the course.
  3. On the Courses tab, click Certificate next to the course.

What you can change

The override panel offers the same two controls as the course's own certificate settings:

  • Certificate — pick Classic, Modern, or Minimal, or choose None to turn certificates off for your group on this course, even if the course itself has one enabled for everyone else.
  • Certificate Duration — the number of days the certificate stays valid once issued. Leave it blank for a certificate that never expires.

Use Preview to see a sample before saving, and Save to apply it.

This always creates an override

Saving here always records a setting specific to your group — it doesn't matter whether the values you choose happen to match the course's own setting. Once saved, your group's setting takes precedence for your members regardless of any later changes the course's author makes. There's currently no button to remove the override and go back to automatically following the course's setting — to match a future change, open this panel again and update it.

Learners in your group who complete the course are issued a certificate based on your override (or none, if you've set it to None), the same way it works for any other course — see Certificates for how issuance, duration, and public verification work.
