vCourse
A vCourse is a package built around a single course that gets revised over time, rather than a set of different courses. You add each revision as a "version" with its own Active Start Date, and the platform automatically delivers whichever version is current — no need to reassign anyone when a new version goes live.
Use a standard package when you're bundling different courses together. Use a vCourse when it's really one course, published again and again — for example, annual compliance training that gets updated content each year but should always be "the same assignment" to learners.
Creating a vCourse
- Open Packages.
- Click Create vCourse, next to Create Package.
- Fill in the name, description, pricing, and other settings just like a standard package.
- Save. You land on the new vCourse's Courses tab, ready to add the first version.
Adding versions
Click Add Course on the Courses tab the same way you would on a standard package — each course you add becomes one version of the vCourse.
A vCourse's Courses tab replaces the assign-date and days-to-complete columns with a single Active Start Date per version. When you add a version, its start date defaults to the moment you added it — click the date field to move it, including into the future.
Which version learners get
At any moment, the platform delivers whichever version has the most recent Active Start Date that has already arrived. Versions dated in the future stay dormant until their date arrives, then the switch happens automatically — you don't need to touch anything on the go-live day.
Upload next year's revision whenever it's ready and set its Active Start Date to the day it should go live. The current version keeps being delivered until then.
